Wheel Throwing at all levels of skill. Classes are designed for any level of ceramic experience. Wheel classes explore a variety forms and glazing techniques. Wear clothes that can get a bit dirty and if you want to throw on the wheel please wear close-toed shoes. Students will learn how to wedge clay and throw basic forms including bowls, vases, coffee mugs and small plates. They will learn basic glazing techniques and decorative treatments. Serious students should buy or make their own tools and texture usually comes from man-made or natural materials. Some basic tools will be available for use at the Art Center. Courses should be viewed as “evolving growth in ceramics art”. Miss a class and make it up without losing your session within two weeks of the missed class. Arrangements can be made with instructor to make up the missed class during another scheduled class and time during the week. If you miss more than two classes you forfeit those missed classes. 2019 Class ScheduleSession 5 – July 9th through August 13th ***TUESDAY’S, WEDNESDAY’S & SATURDAY’S CLASSES ARE FULL***Session 6 – August 20th through September 24thSession 7 – Week of October 1st through November 5thSession 8* – Week of November 12th through December 17th *Session 8 – PLEASE NOTE: No class on Wednesday, Nov. 27th, Thursday November 28th, or Saturday November 30th classes for Thanksgiving Holiday. We will make up the classes as follows: Wednesday class will meet on Monday December 2nd 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Thursday class will meet on Monday December 9th 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Saturday class will be a double session from 11am to 3pm on November 23rd. Art League of Jacksonville Member Prices: $90 for 6 sessions plus $40 materials fee(s)Materials & Administration Fees: You must choose one option or the other to register for class.Option 1: $40.00 total includes for Clay, Firing, basic tool and equipment use, Basic House Glazes, Kiln maintenance and Admin.
