Ghost Rider Tram Tours You don’t have to get your feet wet or drive your car down Janes Scenic Drive to see the wonders of the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park, the largest state park in Florida. The “Ghost Rider” tram, named in honor of the famous Ghost Orchid found in the park, lets you look at wildlife and plants without concentrating on the road. The park is home to more orchid species than any other place on the North American continent. The Preserve is also a haven for diverse wildlife and migratory birds. An experienced guide leads the 2 1/2 hour tram tour and points out unique aspects of the largest state park in Florida. The tour includes a optional 15 min. walk down an old logging path to see numerous air plants, a variety of ferns, and seasonally blooming orchids. The 20-passenger tram is wheelchair accessible and some seats face backwards. Participants will be required to sign a standard release of liability form. This is an outdoor event, please dress appropriately for the weather, participants are required to wear secure, closed toe shoes – NO sandals. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the tour's departure set at 10:00 AM. The tour resumes approximately at 12:30 PM , the guide will NOT cut the tour short for folks who expect to leave the park at 12:30 sharp. The tram will be waiting for participants on Janes Scenic drive (near the Park's small visitor center at 137 Coastline Drive) participants will park their vehicles near the tram on Janes Scenic at the designated area. Janes Scenic drive is ONLY accessible via SR 29 ( between I-75 and US 41) DO NOT rely on incorrect GPS information providing other routes to access Jane Scenic dirve in Copeland. The tour is $25.00 per person, proceeds go to support the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park.
