Support the Cocoa Beach Surf Team with a donation and get an opportunity to meet the Coaches and Surfers and local art by Kole Trent! Suggested donations are $5 for 1 ticket and $20 for 5 tickets. Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School (CBHS) surf team is a club at CBHS that promotes surfing as a team sport. After several years of a hiatus, the team reformed to compete in 2016. We encourage all surfing levels to gain experience and camaraderie in a sport that gets a lot of individual attention. This year, we are hoping to compete in local competitions as well as forming teams to compete in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) East Coast championships and National event. Throughout the year, the team will have surf coaching sessions, fitness/nutrition sessions and fundraising opportunities. The team also has been learning some new skills in other water activities such as using a foil surfboard. To be a member, students must maintain good grades and a good attitude. Under the direction of Coaches Sean Hayes with assistance from Eric McBenton and Monica Monsalve, the CBHS Surf Team will at a minimum compete at NSSA East Coast Championships in March/April of each year and at NSSA National Championships in California in June of each year. At a minimum, 2 teams will compete at the event: a Middle School (Junior High) and a High School versity team and this year we are hoping to have a JV team as well. Registration for each team in New Smyrna, FL is ~$600 and CA is ~$700. Therefore there is at least $2700 in just registration fees for contests. Money donated will also contribute to lodging and travel expenses for the coach and team as available.
