DAFNIS PRIETO arrived from Santa Clara, Cuba in 1999 – first based in New York and now Miami, his revolutionary drumming techniques and compositions have had a powerful international impact on Latin Jazz music. His holiday present to us is a very special concert con su conjunto in the main Corpus Christi Church – specially decorated for the season – with our traditional kosher Christmas cookies served at the reception, and Christmas Caroling in the mix. The music? Listen to Dafnis' 2019 Grammy®-winning Best Latin Jazz Album “Back to the Sunset.” You’ll discover why this Macarthur Fellow has had so many Grammy and Latin Grammy awards and nominations – including Best New Artist in 2007. This is not a traditional holiday event – but it will evoke the true Holiday Spirit among all participants, and may well be your favorite for many years.
