DOUBLE-CHECK FACEBOOK EVENT SCHEDULE BEFORE YOU GO! Although we play most weeks, we can't actually play every week, so Eventbrite can be misleading! Sometimes we have conflicts, and its become easier to update everyone via our Facebook event pages. You can find the most accurate schedule at: https://www.facebook.com/events/2397601863652785/?event_time_id=2397601880319450 You can also search Facebook by the name: "Volleyball: Easy-Beginner's Level: Open Gym Play." If the link becomes broken, please message the host for an updated link. Are you new to volleyball? Do you need a welcoming space to learn how to play? Are you willing to help others learn the basics: bump, set hit? Information Joins us most Saturdays from 6pm to 8pm at the Meadow Woods Indoor Recreation Center near the Orlando Airport for a new Open Gym, Indoor Volleyball, free to all who have a recreation card ($25) with Orange County Parks & Recreation and have filled out their waiver forms. This is for those with limited-to-no volleyball experience to come learn how to play and have a good time! All levels welcome, but we will limit play to help teach others the basic skills (serve, bump, set, and hit). The recreation center staff handles the setup/takedown of the net as well as membership cards. If you're new, plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to signup for a recreation card with Orange County Parks, which gives you other bonus perks: access to fitness centers, ping-pong, billiard tables, and various classes with your recreation card throughout the six different recreation centers in Orange County (membership is $25 for a quarter year access; you can also purchase a day pass should you wish). Learn more at: https://www.orangecountyfl.net/CultureParks/RecreationCentersFitnessCenterMembership.aspx Rules: You must be at least 18 years old, but all ages & genders are welcome as long as their membership & waivers are still valid with Orange County Parks & Recreation Centers. Teams are randomly numbered by lineup, and we will recount for each match to ensure teams are fair. If we don't have enough for teams, we just practice technique. Be Nice. Help Others. If they don't ask for help, don't force it. There are plenty of more competitive places to play we can recommend. This is not one of them. Be Honest. If it's out, or you're in the net, admit it. Nobody's winning any trophies here. New players are 'typically' allowed two chances on serves. No special rotations. Each player should practice each position, especially new players. No "carries" or "lifts" allowed. When playing beyond 6 players per team, always rotate in on the first serve to allow them a chance to play. Always call the score before service to help prepare the other team. Always call the ball. This helps you avoid injury with other players. Always thank the staff Any Questions? Ask here. I'll try to respond ASAP.
