2nd Indian River Lagoon Health Update Report Card Release Includes Tributaries!

2nd Indian River Lagoon Health Update Report Card Release Includes Tributaries!

Event Date: 2019-11-23 11:30:00

Cost: $100.00

Local non-profit organization, the Marine Resources Council of East Florida (MRC) teams with Applied Ecology Inc. to release the second comprehensive health analysis of the entire Indian River Lagoon (IRL). This report also includes water quality data of 11 streams connected to the estuary to help identify and target pollution sources flowing into the lagoon.

It is common knowledge that the health of the lagoon is in peril. With over 20 years of data provided by the governing state water management districts, we can now grade the improvement or decline in the water quality and health of the system. The aim is for our coastal community to have accountability and use this report card as a tool to help guide future restoration efforts and policy moving forward in improving the water quality of the failing IRL.

The latest data has been collected and packaged, now MRC needs your help to deliver this vital information to our community. The goal is to raise over $50,000 in the next couple months to deploy the report card to lagoon community residents. Donors are invited to the early release party of the report card at Djon’s Steak & Lobster House, Melbourne Beach. Is the lagoon’s health improving or not? We hope you will join us for this historic lagoon health event.
